Hello Families,

August 5, 2024

Dear Angelou Families:

Welcome to the 2024 - 2025 school year. On behalf of the entire Angelou staff, we are privileged to serve such a dynamic school district and community. We are ready to SOAR to New Heights with our Eagle students!

Parents are an important part of a child’s education. We cannot develop fantastic students without  your help and guidance. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  • Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience

  • Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills

  • Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life

  • Sees you participate in school events to show your committment to learning

  • Completes all homework assignments given by teachers

  • Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

School is the Place to Bee! The most important parent responsibility is to get your child to school all 174 days this year. As a school, 60% of our students had positive attendance last year. Thank you to those families. It is also the family’s responsibility to have students “Arrive by 8:45” (8:25 for breakfast) and remain in school until 3:00 every day.

We are excited about all of the learning our students will experience this year!  Our reading and math curriculums are being enhanced with positive phonics work and support. Our school is adopting a new school wide behavior management plan in CHAMPS.

Our Eagle staff is very excited to partner with you again this year. We are looking to increase our parent involvement in the school since that will enhance student learning. See Class Dojo for more ways to get involved.

Here’s to a great school year!

Excitedly,

Ms. Mahorney
